DaJuan Bennett

DaJuan Bennett, Junior Information Systems Major at Howard University, from Compton, CA

Last semester I lead a group of colleagues to serve as student consultants to the South African bank, Nedbank. We were assigned the task to research and suggest emerging technologies in cashless payments. We traveled to Johannesburg, South Africa to present our recommendations. Through our suggestions, we hope to see NFC technology advance cashless payments in South Africa. During the Summer of 2011 I interned at Accenture as a Functional Deployment Coordinator. I worked with a team of consultants to develop, deploy, and maintain a financial auditing system entitled General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) for the US Army. I also worked with my colleagues to develop a database, using Microsoft Access, that would match employees to their next project based on skills, location, and certifications. As a Management Team Leader in Howard University's School of Business, I have gained an acceptable amount of leadership experience. After 16 weeks of training and various interviews, I was selected, out of 44 students, to become 1 of 20 Management Team Leaders. Currently, I manage a team of students ranging from freshmen to juniors, ages 18-35. I have been able to mentor and build the professional skills of each team member.Through this experience, I have been able to build my communication and management skills. As an IT Business Analyst intern at The Bank of New York Mellon I was given the task of developing an eLearning module for all of the IT employees. I was presented with the project because of the problem occurring in most businesses. In order to increase the understanding between each line of business, the eLearning module would train approximately 4,000 IT employees in order to understand each line of business, in turn increasing communication. This summer I will be returning to Accenture for a second internship.
